Media Studies

The project I have chosen is the magazine project. I chose this portion of the project because I found that doing the magazine would be easier for me, seeing that I have writing experience from my previous English classes. Along with having photography experience from doing photo shoots with my friends. My project is going to be a music magazine with various photos of musicians playing during their performance. Along with some background on the artists in the photos. I will be working alone on this project. Some of the skills that I possess is my writing skills that I have gathered from my English classes, and the photography experience that I have gathered from my artsy friends showing me how to do various things with a camera and using those skills for other photo shoots.

Some aspects of the film production that would interest me based on what we have done in class such as, watching the film Ferris Bullers day off, and the Newsroom, along with thinking about all of the different factors that come into play in making a film from the sound, editing, and camera angles. Some of the skills that i possess that would make the film project a good fit for me is the ability to understand how to use editing software and computer programs. The film portion of the project would not necessarily be a good fit for me because of my lack of experiences with the use of a camera.

The aspects of print journalism that might interest me based on the things we have done in class. Aspects such as, being able to publish something to the public and be proud of the work that was published. Another aspect of this is, the experience that I would be able to gain from doing the magazine portion of this project. Some experiences of this is the writing for a magazine and taking photos for the piece in the magazine. Some skills that I possess that would make the magazine project a good fit for me is the previous years of writing experience in my English classes. Another reason this would be a good fit for me is the experience I have from taking photos. Some things that would make this project challenging for me is furthering my writing to write a magazine article.
