This is my final submission for my magazine. I changed my table of contents page and some of the fonts that I used before, along with the photos that I had in the magazine.

3rd quarter submission feedback

Many of my peers responded with positive comments on my magazine, but I also needed to justify my columns, along with find some different photos to add variation.

Question 4 I integrated technologies into my project by using the blogger on google to help me post my process of how I came to my final product of my magazine. I also used publisher to help create my magazine pages and make them look the way they do. Not to mention I used my iPhone to take pictures for my magazine.

Question 3 My production skills have developed by using the program publisher for my magazine by editing photos and putting together the photos in such a way to create a magazine that would look good and attract people to it by the cover and its contents. Using blogger was helpful to getting my product out in the open and sharing my thoughts with my magazine.

Question 2 My product engages people in the realm of music other than rap and today's hits, and more of the rock and alternative music styles that are not main stream. It also engages people by telling them about the new albums that artists are making along with new tours, upcoming concerts, along with information behind artists music careers and their personal lives. My magazine would be distributed by concerts and country wide tours along with the magazine distributors.

Creative Critical Reflection draft

Question 1 My product challenges conventions by using multiple photos on the cover, the photos are taken by the fans of the magazine while they are at concerts and festivals. The table of contents displays photos of fans meeting their favorite artists and artists performing on stage. Displaying fans love for concerts and festivals. While the articles show people taking pictures of the new people that they met during concerts and more pictures of fans meeting their favorite artists after a show. This represents the teenage social group that would typically feel like outsiders in the typical social setting now feel that they are accepted.

Distribution Research

The digital distribution of my magazine would be from ads on social media sites for bands and the warped tour website. So the first thing I would do is ensure that my magazine would be secure and that it would sell. So one way to do this is by digital distribution channels, a structured communication channel of your own control, reaching the target audience that cares about you and what you deliver as a business. some various digital distribution channels are Email, Sms/text, Mobile apps, and a blog.

Distribution Research

I researched the Curtis Circulation Company, who gets 25% of the publications for North America.  Curtis Circulation Company is a leading national distributor of magazines, with retail sales exceeding $550 million every year. Curtis is the key marketing, financial, and information like between the publishers, the wholesale distributors to whom we distribute and the retailers that sell magazines to consumers. So Curtis' mission is the bring our client publishers' publications to the single copy marketplace as efficiently as possible, while providing maximum sales performance. we do this by utilizing our extensive sales force and the most experienced management group in the industry. This product will be beneficial for selling my product and getting it out there to the public and making it known that there is a new edition of my magazine out.

Target audience Rock Sound

Rock sound magazine is a magazine based around music and the news of bands. Their target audience is anywhere from 15 to 24 years of age, while 59% of its audience is female. 78% of rock sounds audience uses Rock Sound to discover new music and trends. Rock Sound reaches an audience of 585,000 people each month. The Rock Sound social networks have reached over 150k+ across Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, and Instagram.

Target audience Alternative Press

Alternative Press is an american music magazine which provides its readers with band interviews, photos, information on upcoming releases, and music charts. The magazine was founded in 1985 by Mike Shea. The first issue of Alternative Press was just a photocopied fan magazine, which was handed out at concerts by the founder, Mike Shea. The target audience for the Alternative Press magazine seems to be teenagers and young adults, aged 15-30. Also it seems that the magazine is aimed more towards males rather than females because of the color scheme used within the magazine. The genre of music this magazine focuses on is all alternative, rock/pop music form groups such as Paramore, Fall Out Boy, The Used, etc. The types of people that would normally associate with these groups are young adults. Which is helpful when your trying to determine the target audience.

Revision main article

Image
For my main article I decided to only change the photos I used to add variation to the article and so there was not to many pictures that looked similar. Here is the original article and under neath that is the new one.

Revisions contents

Image
This is my revision for my table of contents, the first table of contents is on the left and the new one is on the right. As I was making my revisions I didn't like the photos being on the right side of the articles and the page numbers, so I moved it around and added in new photos that added variation to the page. I also moved the title to the top of the page where there was a bit more open space.

Revisions cover page

Here is my first cover page and the revised cover page. I had changed my cover page quite a bit, I did not like the set up that I had for my cover page, so I tried something different and came up with the cover page on the right.

Photo Shoot January 27

Image
The photo shoot this past weekend went well. I got lots of photos.

Reflecting on feedback

The over all feed back I got was good, my peers seemed to like the idea of the magazine. Although I was told to add some color to my subheadings for the featured articles because the cover looks rather boring with just black and white colored text, also to try to find a more exciting font. So I plan to play around with the fonts and the colors to see what I get out of it. I was also told to justify my columns along with maybe add some borders to my photos and make them look more natural in the magazine.

conventions and social groups

My magazine is a music magazine that is targeting young adults and teenagers that listen to music such as pop punk, punk, metal, and heavy metal. My magazine is also targeting those who like to go to concerts. My magazine challenges conventions by using photos taken by their readers that was taken at concerts, hence the use of selfies and the pictures of people meeting band members. rather than using professionally taken photos of the artists which makes it harder to connect to the audience.
